OUR STORY
Roudigan's is the culmination of a lifelong dream for area resident, Frank Roudis. "For years, whenever I traveled with my two daughters, Melissa and Deanna, we would talk about what we would do in a restaurant of our own. I've always believed that Kingston needed a place where people could dine, not just eat, but to enjoy a fun, relaxed evening out." To create this, Roudis designed an atmosphere where anyone can come in and re-live a great time in his life. "See that sled," he said pointing to an American Flyer sled on the wall, "I remember going down the hill off Broadway with my sister and brother on that sled." Movie stills, postcards, and vintage ads decorate the walls and tables.
Frank Roudis began his career in the early 50's while still a boy. His mother and father, Josephine and Nick, owned Nick's Lunch in mid-town Kingston, and Frank spent every day helping out around the restaurant. From there, the family moved its business to upper Broadway, and to the landmark trolley diner, The Colonial. Frank had the opportunity to open his own restaurant in 1968, Country Kitchen in the Caldor Shopping Plaza. Always looking to try something new, and in a daring move, completely renovated that location 8 years later, when it emerged as Francesco's Italian Kitchen. He moved to the other side of the counter in the late seventies, and has worked there ever since in the food service business.
"I felt it was time to take everything I've seen and done and come back home. Under our logo, it doesn't say restaurant - it says 'Fun, Food and Drink' - and that's what we really are. A place for a great meal, with great service and a fun night out."
"Hollywood's" is the newly christened lounge at Roudigan's. As the name implies, the best movie scenes and actors provide a relaxed atmosphere to spend an evening. Dominating this room is a 32 foot long hand painted mural depicting the greatest Hollywood movie stars from Harold Lloyd to Uma Thurman. "It's a lot of fun watching people try to name all the hundreds of faces on the wall."
Roudigan's new menu is a one-of-a-kind sensation depicting over 100 old time movie characters.
Having a party? Roudigan's can provide banquet and wedding facilities on site, for groups from 25 to 150.
